Falmouth – Dunn’s River Falls

I have recently heard a lot about this natural attraction in Falmouth, Jamaica.  We will be docked in Falmouth from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.  The cruise port itself is supposed to be nice but I have heard that there are more things to do in Montego Bay (30 minutes in one direction from Falmouth) or Ocho Rios (1 hour from Falmouth in the opposite direction than Montego Bay).

Here is a link to Dunn’s River Falls.  It looks pretty neat.

You literally walk up the falls here so bring water shoes as I have heard it can get a little slippery.  Stay on the path that they are telling you to walk on o it gets REALLY slippery.  One smart guy that I was reading about said he got tired of slow people in front of him so he went a different route, slipped and took a little ride down the falls and dislocated his shoulder.  Now that is not the usual experience I have read about though so do not let that scare you if you are interested in this.

I guess you could rent a car to get yourself there or do an excursion through the cruise line or book one on your own.  If booking on your own, here is a company that I have read about that has gotten good reviews:

From all accounts this spot is getting more and more popular so it may be crowded.  If climbing the actual falls is “not your thing” it is my understanding that there are steps alongside the falls that you could walk up to meet the rest in your group.

Enjoy!
